How to Set Parameters on a Delta VFD – Step-by-Step Tutorial

Why Parameter Setting is Crucial

Setting the correct parameters on your Delta VFD ensures safe startup, correct motor tuning, and application-specific behavior. This guide will help you configure basic parameters in less than 10 minutes.

Step 1: Power ON and Access the Keypad

🔌 Turn ON the VFD.
🖥️ The display will show ‘F60.00’ or similar (frequency). Use the keypad to navigate.

Step 2: Enter Programming Mode

Press the ‘MODE’ or ‘PRGM’ button. Use the up/down arrows to navigate parameter groups (e.g., P0, P1, etc.).

Step 3: Basic Parameters to Set

• **P00.00 – Frequency Command Source:** Set to ‘01’ for keypad control.
• **P00.01 – Run Command Source:** Set to ‘01’ for keypad control.
• **P01.00 – Base Frequency:** Match with motor nameplate (typically 50Hz).
• **P01.01 – Max Frequency:** Set based on motor capacity (e.g., 60Hz).
• **P02.00 – Acceleration Time:** Set in seconds (e.g., 10s).
• **P02.01 – Deceleration Time:** Set in seconds (e.g., 10s).

Step 4: Save and Exit

After configuring the parameters, press ‘MODE’ again to return to the main screen. Settings are saved automatically.

Pro Tip – Use Delta VFD Software

Delta’s VFDSoft or SmartView software allows PC-based configuration, parameter backup, and real-time monitoring via RS-485/USB.

Final Note

Incorrect parameter settings can lead to motor failure or trip alarms. Always refer to the drive manual and motor datasheet.
